Those giant, flapping-wing warplanes soaring over Arrakis? In theory, yes—ornithopters have been dreamed up since da Vinci’s day. In reality, any full-size flapping-wing craft collapses under its own weight and energy demands. Modern engineers only get them airborne at the drone scale, where tiny flapping wings can work. So, unless you’re cool with a bug-sized ride, forget riding a dragonfly to work.
